4차 산업혁명 시대의 도래와 사회패러다임의 변화는 평생교육 현장에도 더욱 전문적이고 유연성 있는 프로그램개발 능력을 요구하고 있다.
따라서 그동안 대학과 현장에서 이론과 실천의 풍부한 경험을 갖고 있는 평생교육전공의 저자들은 실천적 경험을 토대로 현장에서 프로그램을 개발하는 평생교육 관계자나 앞으로 프로그램개발을 하여야 하는 학습자들의 현장 적용성과 실천 가능성이 높도록 본 서를 집필하고자 하였다.
특히, 현재 평생교육을 전공하고 있는 평생교육 학도들에게 평생교육 프로그램개발에 관한 이론과 실제를 습득할 수 있는 열린 마당을 제공하고, 또한 각종 평생교육기관에서 평생교육 실천가로 활동하고 있는 분들에게 현장에서 직접 활용할 수 있는 내용들을 제시하고자 하였으며, 아울러 평생교육 프로그램개발에 관심이 있는 그 밖의 모든 분들에게도 안내의 역할을 하여 스스로 프로그램개발의 절차와 방법을 터득 할 수 있도록 내용을 조직하였다.
이 책은 프로그램개발의 기초적 이론과 접근방법을 토대로 하여 ADDIE(Analysis,Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation)모형에 따라 분석, 설계, 개발, 실행,평가 단계로 구분하여 제시하고자 한다.
① 분석(Analysis)단계는 프로그램개발 추진을 위하여 타당성 분석, 상황분석, 요구분석 및 학습요구의 우선순위 결정이 포함된다.
② 설계(Design)단계는 분석된 내용을 바탕으로 목표설정 및 기술, 학습내용ㆍ교육방법ㆍ학습매체ㆍ평가방법 등을 선정하고 조직한다.
③ 개발(Development)단계는 설계안에 기초한 교재와 강의지침서를 개발하는 단계로 학습자용 교재개발, 교수자용, 매뉴얼개발, 매체개발 등의 교수학습자료 개발 등이 포함된다.
④ 실행(Implementation)단계는 프로그램운영을 위한 운영계획과 교육을 실시하는 단계로 자원 확보 및 배분, 마케팅 및 홍보, 강사 섭외, 장소 선정, 프로그램실행 등이 포함된다.
⑤ 평가(Evaluation)단계는 프로그램을 실행한 후에 성과를 판단하여 개선하는 단계로 평가과정 설계, 평가방법 선정 및 도구개발, 평가자료 수집 및 분석, 평가결과보고 및 활용 등이 포함된다.
이 책의 특징은 프로그램개발 경험이 전혀 없는 학습자도 프로그램을 개발할 수 있도록 각 단계별로 가이드를 제시하여 실제 프로그램개발에 활용할 수 있도록 구성
하였다.
또한 프로그램개발 경험이 있는 학습자들은 프로그램개발에 대한 체계적인 정립과 이론으로 보다 심화된 프로그램을 개발할 수 있도록 집필되었다.
그러나 아직도 부족한 내용을 다 채우지 못한 채 이 책을 평생교육인들 앞에 내놓게 되어 마음이 무거울 뿐이다. 모자라고 잘못된 점에 대해서는 평생교육인들이 면밀히 분석하여 아낌없는 충고와 조언을 해 줄 것을 진솔한 마음으로 기대한다. 마지막으로 이 책의 출간에 특별한 애정을 주신 양성원의 관계자 여러분께 감사의 말씀을 드린다. 아울러 이 책의 출간 과정을 사랑의 기도로 지켜 준 저자의 온 가족들에게도 고마움을 드린다.​
